With the summer almost over you've probably had your share of swimming in chlorinated water. But since school is coming up soon we all want to have fresh locks! Here are some at home remedies on how to restore chlorine damaged hair!
+GET A TRiM;
This one is pretty obvious but getting a trim is the first step to getting rid of that damaged hair
+RAiN WATER;
Rain water is natural. This is wonderful to use after any shampoo treatment. Collect it in a clean bucket or bowl (do not use aluminum, as it will make the water brackish), and use it to rinse the soap from your hair. It will help make your hair shiny and soft.
+SUGAR SHAMPOO && CONDiTiONER;
For the shampoo, mix equal parts sugar and honey, and scrub into hair. Yes, it will be sticky. However, the natural properties of the honey will help to restore the hair follicles and the sugar will help to exfoliate the scalp.
For the conditioner, mix sugar and conditioner, and scrub. Run a brush through it while in the shower, and then rinse well!
+HOMEMADE HAiR RiNSE;
These are products you will most likely have on hand, and can be used to restore hair on a regular basis!
Take and mix a half cup of Apple Cider Vinegar with a quart of water! (bottled water or rain water is best!) Pour it onto the scalp and massage. Don't worry, the smell won't last that long, and you'll be left with wonderful, healthy hair!
+BANANA CONDiTiONER;
Take one, very large, ripe banana, one tablespoon of heavy whipping cream, and a tablespoon of honey. Mix well and comb through your hair. Make sure you comb, or you will be scooping banana chunks out for half an hour.
A good substitute for this would be a large jar of banana baby food. You could even mix it up and get a Banana Orange mix for extra scent and flavor!
+ALOE VERA CONDiTiONER;
This is perfect to use after a day spent out in the sun. Aloe Vera has wonderful healing properties for sunburns, and scalps take the brunt of the sun!
Take a fourth of a cup of aloe vera gel (you can purchase this at drugstores, or grow your own plants. They are lovely additions to a garden!), a fourth of cup of lemon juice, and 3-5 drops of the essential oil of your choice. Mix the ingredients well and apply to clean, wet hair. Leave sitting for 3-5 minutes, and then rinse well!
+LUSTRiOUS ALOE CONDiTiONER;
This will help renew the texture of the hair. It's a little more complicated, but just as wonderful!
Add two ounces of aloe vera gel, half of a teaspoon of jojoba or olive oil, two ounces of apple cider vinegar, and one ounce of powdered milk, and mix well. Apply the mix to clean, wet hair, and leave for 10-15 minutes. Then rinse thoroughly.
This also helps with sun burnt scalps, but helps restore the hair a bit more too!
+STRAWBERRY SANWiCH CONDiTiONER;
Mash 8 fresh strawberries (no leaves), and add to one tablespoon of mayo. Massage into damp hair. Cover with either a shower cap or saran wrap, and then wrap with a warm towel. Let it sit for ten minutes and then rinse! Shampoo as usual, and voila! Healthy hair! The seeds have exfoliating properties, while the acids and vitamins in the berry help to restore the hair!
+BE PATiENT;
These treatments will help but you must be patient! (:
